Paul was born in Queens NY in March 1958 to the late Eugene and Paula Figurella. Following a move to the suburbs, Paul attended schools and graduated from college in Rockland County, NY. Upon graduation he joined the Air Force and served during a period of peace. Following his honorable discharge Paul joined the FBI where he worked until his retirement, amassing 40 years of federal government service in the interest of national security.
In 1986, he married Anne, the love of his life. They had one son, John Figurella. Paul loved to tinker, fix, and build, usually bringing Anne’s ideas to reality. Paul loved woodworking, auto repair, motorcycles, and camping, a passion he passed along to his son. Paul’s love of camping led him to become a Boy Scout Leader, a position he held past guiding John to becoming an Eagle Scout. Paul loved music and had an incredible ear for it. He learned to play the trumpet in his younger years. Paul was an active member of his church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Paul is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anne, and his son, John (VA). He is also survived by his brother Eugene Figurella (PA), sister and brother-in-law, Dona and Paul Hylas (NY), and cousin Kenneth Horton (CT). Additionally, Paul was a member of the “outlaws”, a name affectionately given to those who married into Anne’s large family. He is fondly remembered by Kenny and Sue (CA), Barb and Tom (NY), Dave and Cathi (NY), Nancy and Pete who we recently lost (CT), Carrie (NY), Ellen (VA), and Jim and Yvette (NY). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews left to carry on the celebrations.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Cape Cod Hospital and VNA Hospice who took wonderful care of him in his final weeks and the University of Virginia Neurology Clinic who cared for him during the progression of his disease.
