Peter earned a BS degree in Business Administration from the American International College in Springfield, MA. He also earned his chemical dependency certification. He worked as a Commercial Insurance agent, a Chemical Dependency Counselor/Behavioral Therapist and a Parole Officer. After his retirement, he became a school bus driver for the Nauset Regional School system. He loved music and played in bands from the age of 14 till 2017 when his band played at the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod. He was also a choir member in his church in Cincinnati, OH as well as the Orleans Methodist church. Peter was very involved in the town which he loved where he served on the Orleans Zoning Board of Appeals. He was especially proud of featuring a one man art show, entitled “60 Years of Art Expression”, at the Snow Library in Orleans for the month of October 2019. Peter was known for his sense of humor, musical and artistic talent and innovative ways to repair things.
He is survived by his spouse of 52 years, Joyce (Flynn) Jablon. He leaves behind two sons (daughter-in-laws) Jason (Shelley) Jablon of Beulah, MI and Seth (Eleanor) Jablon of Brooklyn, NY; sister-n-law Paula (McCormick) Jablon; 3 grandchildren, and a fourth granddaughter who is due to be born any day. His brother, Stephan, passed away in February 2019.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s name to either VNA Hospice of Cape Cod, 434 Route Suite D3, South Dennis, MA 02660 or Brewster Animal Rescue League, 3981 Main Street, Brewster, MA 02631.
Visiting hours will be held from 4pm-7pm on Wednesday January 8th at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA. A service will be held in the funeral home, Thursday, January 9th at 10am. Burial to follow in the Orleans Cemetery.
