

CHATHAM and PLAINVILLE, MA – Rita Rose Desrochers, 82, of Chatham and Plainville, MA passed away on August 8, 2012. She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, James Desrochers. Born in Attleboro, MA Rita was the daughter of the late Henri and Julia (Lariviere) Brochu.
Rita excelled at many different arts and crafts. She worked at Royal Hinge and Dye, and belonged to various sewing clubs; she also sold Amway for years. She made and sold beautiful, delicious cakes for all occasions, such as weddings, birthdays, etc… Being a mother of five kids, she kept busy making fruitcakes for all her children’s teachers. She was a party planner extraordinaire, who coordinated all the family events, birthdays, swimming parties, cookouts, camping, whatever the event, she was planning it. Although Rita enjoyed all her hobbies, she was most proud of being a loving and supportive wife and mother. She will be sorely missed by those who knew her.
Besides her husband James, she is survived by two daughters; Marcelle (Katy) Desrochers, and Vivian (Dale) Goodinson; three sons, Dan (Nancy), John (Tricia), and Leo Desrochers; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; two sisters, Doris (Richard), and Ida (Andrew); and one brother Richard (Joy). She is predeceased by her great grandchild, Olivia, as well as four siblings, Marie, Louise, Leo, and Norman.

Visiting hours will be held from 4p-6p on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans. Additional visiting hours will be held from 4p-7p on Monday, Aug. 13 at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am on Tuesday, Aug. 14th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Norton, MA. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Dodgeville, MA.
