
Native of Boston, moved to Brewster in 1983
Robert C. Emerson at the age of 88 died peacefully on March 2nd at EPOCH Brewster Nursing Center after a lengthy illness with Parkinson's Disease. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Jeanette L. Emerson.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Hallberg-Emerson and his children, Robert Emerson & (Sharon) of Stoughton, Nancy Harris & (Donald) of Milton, and Rick Emerson & (Lynn) of Orleans. In the extended Emerson family there are 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Other surviving family members are Harald Steltzer & (Michelle) of Milwaukee, WI, Heidi Steltzer & (David Banks) of Durango, CO, Eric Steltzer & (Emily) of London England and 5 grandchildren.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, receiving an honorable discharge in September 1947. His last place of employment was at the U.S. Natick Research and Development Laboratories, Natick, MA. He was a very skilled electrical technician, retiring in November 1983 after 20 years of service. On the Cape he built his own home and was an active member at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. He always had a strong voice of advocacy for renewal energies and offered a deep passion for the solar panel project at St. Peters. For many years he was an avid dancer with the Nauset Square Dance Club in Dennis.
On Saturday March 14, 2015 there will be a visitation hour with the family from 10 to 11 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Route 137, E. Harwich. To be followed by a service of Celebration of Life at 11 AM and a luncheon reception. Burial will be at a later date at The Gardens of Gethsemane in Boston. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Solar Panel Fund at St. Peter's or to Broad Reach Hospice, 390 Orleans Road, N. Chatham, MA.
