Robert Warren Hayes

Born Tuesday, December 22, 1925, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Julian Hayes and the late Ola Acorn Hayes.

He went to the one room schoolhouse in Eastham as a young child and was a graduate of Orleans High School in 1944. He joined the Army Air Force during WW II and worked for Henry Coffin Pole Line Construction and eventually Farrell Electric where he retired in 1986. He also had a love for boats and fishing. He owned a quahog boat named the Little Jinx for many years with his friend, Joe King. He married his high school sweetheart in 1946 and they enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with family and friends. They drove to Alaska twice which they really enjoyed. On his 80th birthday, he made a tandem jump from a plane which he loved to talk about. It was one of the highlights of his life.

Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Dorothy "Jean" Hayes and his 3 brothers, Pete, Bill and Tommy.

He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Mary Sorando (Paul) of Ashburn, Virginia, sons, Robert Hayes (MaryAnn) of Scottsdale, AZ, Thomas Hayes (Roxanne) of Eastham, and James Hayes (Linda) of Freedom, ME, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The Hayes Family will be holding a memorial service on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Cemetery in Eastham, Massachusetts.
