Roberta Lillian Reddy
December 18, 1936 – May 19, 2020
BREWSTER – Roberta Lillian (Holzman) Reddy, 83, of Brewster, Mass., died on May 19 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home after a long illness. A native of North Quincy who lived most of her adult life on Cape Cod, she was born on December 18, 1936 – the third of four children to the late Richard and Gladys (Scotten) Holzman. A 1954 graduate of North Quincy High, she met her husband of nearly 55 years, Adrian P. Reddy, Sr., at a local dance. They married soon after in 1960. Together, they raised two sons, Adrian Jr. (born in 1963) and David (born in 1970). The family moved to Bass River in 1974 and lived there more than two decades before she and her husband moved to West Yarmouth. Following his death in 2015, she lived with her older son and his wife in Brewster. As a long-time broker at Chagnon Insurance Agency and Safe Harbor Insurance, she developed a loyal clientele who appreciated her personal approach and sharp wit. She also served for decades as an officer with the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women, including a stint as president in the 1990s. While successful in business, she was most proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was devoted. She also enjoyed the beach and expert-level crossword puzzles. In addition to her sons, she is survived by daughters-in-law, Johanna (Voltolini) Reddy and Lori (Goldman) Reddy; sister Ruth (Holzman) Knight and her husband, David Knight; sister-in-law Joan Holzman, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Richard and Ronald Holzman, and a granddaughter, Jordan Reddy. A memorial ceremony will be held soon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association (lung.org).
