Roger Williams Vose

ORLEANS --- Roger Williams Vose, 63, a retired teacher and mediator, died on October 30, 2018 at the Cape Cod Hospital from complications due to diabetes. He was the son of Amelia Cutler (Thompson) Vose and Herbert Phelps Vose. Mr. Vose was born in Boston and attended Noble and Greenough, received a bachelor’s degree in religion from Vassar College and a master’s degree from the Bread Loaf School of English in Middlebury, Vermont. He began his teaching career at the Malcolm Gordon School in NY, and taught at Buckley Country Day School in NY and Detroit Country Day School in MI. His career included extensive coaching in a variety of sports and work with school dramatic productions. After retirement he became a MA state certified mediator working with Cape Mediation in Orleans and in the Barnstable court system, which he found very rewarding. He was an accomplished tennis player, an avid bird watcher and a creative cook. He worked as a cook in Alta, UT, the Chatham Bars Inn, and as a sous chef in Naples, FL. He is survived by his loving friend Ying Patthathum, sister Elinor Cutler (Vose) Krier, his nieces Kathryn Anne Cutler Krier and Laura Dunbar Krier, grandniece Josephine Thompson Krier Schneider and grandnephew Jonathon Alden Krier Schneider. A memorial service will be held on November 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Chatham. Memorial donations may be made to Cape Mediation, P. O. Box 193, Orleans, Ma, 02653.
