

Ronald Winslow Braley, formerly of New City, NY, died of cancer at his home in Eastham, MA on Feb. 10, 2011. He was married to Barbara Tournoux Braley for 38 years. Ron was born May 28, 1933 in Erie, PA to the late Harold and Claudia Braley. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Marvin Braley and his sister, Claudine Korthauer.
Early in his career, he was Director of Human Resources and General Partner at Dean Witter. He was a founding member and past President of the Wall Street Personnel Management Association. He served his country in the US Army in the 101st Airborne Division during the period of the Korean War. He was admired by colleagues and clients for his ability to inspire and lead. Following 25 years of service at Lee Hecht Harrison, most recently as Executive Vice President and Senior Consultant with the LHH@Home division, was presented the President’s Award for Distinguished Service in 2010. The symbol of the starfish, as written about in the book The Star Thrower by Loren Eiseley, was introduced by Ron, then COO, into the corporate philosophy of LHH and became a symbol of their commitment to make a difference, one person at a time. This inspirational vision is still one of the core principles that motivates LHH today.
Ron loved the outdoors, especially taking family camping and fishing trips. He loved boating and being near the ocean. He was a member of the Eastham United Methodist Church and a past member and Elder of the Germonds Presbyterian Church in New City, NY.
He is survived by his children, Peter Braley and his wife Sally, of Montclair, NJ; Joanne Gaither and her husband David, of Elmsford, NY; Carol Romer, of Monroe, NY; Linda Braley and her husband George Theall, of Portland, ME; Scott Braley and his wife Annie, of Fairfield, CT; Todd Braley and Daniela D’Ambrosio, of Philadelphia, PA; Eric Braley and his wife Jennifer, of Dennisport, MA, and his grandchildren, Ariel Heinke, Sarah Braley, Meg Braley, Philip Braley, Cheyenne Gaither, Justin Romer, Casey Romer, Amanda Theall, George Peter Theall, Raegan Braley, and Madeleine Braley. He is also survived by his first wife, Grace Braley of Portland, ME.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA.
