Our dearest Sashy, passed away surrounded by family and close friends on Friday, March 15, after facing a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Wellesley, MA to Marica Dowd and Joseph A. McOsker on January 15, 1960. Sash had a lightness and grace that was infectious, which she effortlessly shared with friends, and devoted family. Sash was a loving, doting mother of three: Hil, Len, & Stu. Her memory will live on through her children, and of course her beloved pup, Bertie. She adored her brother Jay, his wife Julie, her sister, Megan, brother-in-law Will, her niece and nephew, Abby & Graham, her stepmother Dandy, along with the rest of her extended family & close friends.
Sarah attended The Noble and Greenough School and then went on to Skidmore College, graduating in 1982 with a degree in American Studies and a minor in Art History. She continued to explore her passion for art and design in NYC where she also forged many lifelong friendships. She eventually married her children’s father, Paul Donlon and moved to San Francisco where she raised Hil, Len, & Stu. Sash ultimately returned to New England, her cherished Cape Cod home.
Wherever Sash was in the world, she created and was surrounded by a loving and loyal community of friends. For those who knew Sash, you may have been gifted a nickname like she affectionately gave to her children, Stu-Boo, Len Dogger, & Tutty-Loo, her dog Bertie and her lifelong friends Nannie-Poo and Dawnie. We will remember Sash listening to her favorite funk music, devouring any kind of cookie, and sipping her iconic can of Tab. Sash made sure everyone around her, even those she just met, felt at home and part of her loving circle. She was a second mother to many - too many to name. Sash will always be remembered as a sweet, beautiful, caring soul with love for everyone she came in contact with. We will all miss her wit, and that sense of security that only a devoted mother could bestow. She was a beacon of light for so many, and encouraged the best in everyone, every day. We rest easy knowing she is with Poppy, Nana East & Uncle Frank.
A celebration of Sarah’s life will take place on Sunday, April 7th, beginning with a prayer and internment of ashes at Orleans Cemetery (Tonset Road entrance) at 11:00, followed by a reception at Ocean Edge, 2907 Main Street (Rt. 6A), Brewster MA.
