Obituary of Sewell C. Rose Jr.
Sewell Corlis Rose, Jr., 83, of Brewster, passed away peacefully October 6, 2020 at Harbor Point at Centerville after a long brave struggle with aphasia. He was the beloved husband of Judith (Klein) for 58 years, father of son Michael (husband of Martha Marno), grandfather of William, daughter Patricia and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was brother to Walter N. Rose and Marie L. Jaques, both deceased. Sewell was born and raised in North Quincy, MA and graduated from North Quincy High School. He received his BS from Northeastern, Masters from RPI and his ScD from MIT. Sewell was a loyal Boston sport’s teams fan and held Patriots season tickets for many years. He retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory. He enjoyed retirement on the Cape with travel, fishing and golfing with the joy of getting a hole-in-one at the Captains Port hole #17. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc’s Knights of Columbus. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a reception on Tuesday, October 13 at 10:00 AM at Nickerson Funeral Home, Orleans preceding mass at St. Joan of Arc at 11:30 AM and then burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:45 PM. For safety, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are required and social distancing must be practiced. Friends and family will gather at a later date to celebrate Sewell’s life.
