Sharon Gotch Cobb, 76, of East Orleans, died suddenly on November 7, 2019 at Cape Cod Hospital. Born in Streator, IL to Hulda (Greenberg) and Frank Gotch. She will be truly missed by her loving husband of 45 years, Peter H. Cobb.
After graduating from Streator High School in Illinois, Sharon attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, earning herself a Master’s Degree in Education, finding her place in this world as an elementary school teacher for the public schools in East Hartford, CT. Sharon touched the lives of many children, inspiring and nurturing her students to succeed and thrive. Her talents went beyond the classroom, as she enjoyed playing percussion and was a part of the Harwich Town Band, of which her husband is conductor. Sharon and her two surviving sisters wrote and published a marvelous full length memoir about growing up in Streator, IL, now the title of the book BECOMING HULDA’S GIRLS: A Diary Memoir: Celebrating the Richness of Everyday Life September to September.
Besides Sharon’s husband Peter, she is survived by her sisters Linda Gotch Helnich of Colorado and Marsha Gotch Micklos of Illinois. Preceded in death by her sister Marilyn Gotch Kennedy of Hinsdale, Illinois.
