Obituary of Suzanne Marie Waugh
SUZANNE MARIE WILSON WAUGH ORLEANS - Suzanne Marie Waugh, 80, of Orleans, MA, died on October 22, 2018 at Liberty Commons, N Chatham, MA from complications during surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston MA. She faced her many infirmaries with a strong faith and determination. Suzanne was born on July 6, 1938 in Waltham, MA to the late Dr. Gerald and Alice Wilson. She graduated from Weston High School in 1956 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Library Science from Simmons College in 1960. She was a school librarian in the Guilford, CT public school system. On July 2, 1960, she married her beloved George Waugh of Revere, MA and resided in Madison, CT until moving to Old Lyme, CT in 1969 where she focused her energy on raising her children and actively volunteering for the Girl Scouts of America as a troop leader and representative to the CT Council of Girl Scouts. In 1999, George and Sue retired to Orleans, MA where Sue was active in the St. Joan of Arc Thrift Shop, Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary and various activities sponsored by Nauset Newcomers. She was a vocalist (soloist in the All New England Choir), gardener, and needle point enthusiast. She loved her Volvos, her four-legged best friends: Blitzie, Sally, CC, and Healy. Suzanne enjoyed several European River Boat Cruises and multiple vacations to the pink beaches of Bermuda. Yearly reunions to Green Harbor in Yarmouth brought the family together. She mail ordered Christmas trees, loved ice cream, and refused to pump gas. Being married to George, she rooted for the Celtics and attended two seventh game World Championship wins at the Old Boston Garden, and of course, she was a Patriots fan. In addition to her parents, Suzanne was preceded in death by Baby Girl Waugh and her brother, Robert Wilson. Suzanne is survived by her husband, George, their two children, spouses and five grandchildren: Steven and Ellen Waugh of Easton, CT and their children Katherine and Michael, Karen and AJ Richard of South Windsor, CT and their children Alexander, Emma and Madeleine. She is also survived by nephews Robert and David Caccamesi and nieces Lisa and Kathleen Wilson. She had many friends and neighbors that were very special to her. Our family wishes to express our deepest gratitude for the loving care Suzanne received in the last days of her life at Liberty Commons Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the Family is requesting donations be made to The Orleans Rescue Squad, Orleans Fire Department, 58 Eldredge Parkway, Orleans, MA 02653. A mass will be celebrated in St. Joan of Arc Church, 61 Canal Rd., Orleans, MA on Friday November 2 at 10:00 AM. For online condolences please visit www.nickersonfunerals.com.
