Tedd was born December 14th, 1939 to Eugene Klinefelter and Violetta Hartley Klinefelter in Bellefonte, Centre County, PA. Tedd was a rural, country boy at heart, able to discern someone’s deep character and holding those friendships close like the treasure collector he was. He loved to start up a conversation anywhere and with anyone, and to share a humorous story or a joke. His laugh was legendary. Under his Tedd’s Garage uniform, grease stained fingers, and wild beard and hair, he was a gentle, sweet soul who deeply loved life and spending time with family and friends. He loved the freedom of the open road, the breeze on his face and the anticipation of the finds at his next flea market or car show.
Tedd grew up in Centre Hall, PA and later on the family farm in Sanborn, NY. He moved to Quincy, MA for college where he met the love of his life Pat. They married in 1964 and shortly after Tedd was drafted into the Army where he served in Korea. After years of work at the shipyard in Quincy they purchased their first home in Manomet, MA. Tedd began commuting to the Cape in 1973 to run an Arco garage in Orleans. In 1975, he moved his wife, beloved cat Pyewacket, and young daughter down to the Cape and to his forever home in Brewster.
For 50 years, the garage- the people, building, land and business - became the core of who he was. Wherever he was, a part of him was always “down at the garage.” He treasured his loyal customers, mechanics, and his amazing gas pumpers who became like extended family to him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Pat, his sister-in-law June (Bill), his sister Connie Deeter (Scott, Darci, and Matt) and brothers David Klinefelter (Karla) and Joe Klinefelter (Donna, Tanya, Tasha, & Jacob). Tedd leaves behind his daughter Jennifer Klinefelter (Garo, Ben, & Emmy) and beloved cousins, friends, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, oldest brother Bob and dear friend and brother-in-law Denny.
Visiting hours will be held from 4p-6p on Thursday, Jan. 19th at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 20th beginning at 10am and followed by a procession past the gas station to the Orleans Cemetery for burial.
