OBITUARY

Victoria Lynn (McGee) Besse

June 19, 1947August 8, 2019

Victoria Lynn (McGee) Besse, 72, of Orleans, MA, passed away on August 8, 2019. Vicki was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on June 19, 1947 to Lee and Paul McGee. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Biology, then worked in the hematology lab at Yale University conducting research on childhood leukemia. She was an amazing and dedicated mother of three daughters whom she first raised in West Hartford, CT, before moving to Orleans. Vicki married Bryant Besse in 2002. They spent many years antiquing together and enjoying their life and home on Cape Cod. Vicki was happiest walking on the beach with her dog and family. A true animal lover, she never turned away the various critters that her girls brought home (except for a snake). She was also an avid gardener, working at a florist and filling her yard and home with beautiful flowers and a vegetable garden that she and Bryant tended. She passed on a love for plants to her daughters, as well as a wonderful childhood full of memories of long summer days on the beach.

Vicki was taken far too soon by the disease of alcoholism and is deeply missed. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and stepdaughters. She leaves her daughter Allison Gray, son-in-law James Gray, and their son James, her daughter Jill Sackett, son-in-law Brandon Sackett and their daughter Evelyn, her daughter Stephanie Floyd and her partner Jeff Hodgman, and her stepdaughters Elise Johnson-Dreyer and family, Suzanne Plum and family, and Andrea Besse and family.

Memorial Donations may be made in her name to Boston Children's Hospital. A private memorial service will be held by family. For online condolences please visit nickersonfunerals.com.
