

She was the loving and devoted wife of Edward S. Anderson to whom she was married for 69 years.
Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Martha (Greif) Erniger. Virginia graduated from Troy High School in 1943. She was a clerical worker for R.P.I. and for the State of New York Registrar’s office. Virginia and her family vacationed for many years on Cape Cod and moved there permanently in 1985. There she continued working for her son’s plumbing business.
Virginia enjoyed life and made friends easily. During her retirement years she and Ed traveled often to Chazy Lake, NY, Dumfries, VA, and Ocala, FL. She enjoyed watching and feeding birds, creating photo albums and sewing. She was an exceptional mender! She also loved to play cards and board games with everyone, especially with her grandchildren.
Virginia was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl B. Overholt. She is survived by her husband Edward, son E. Steven Anderson and his wife Nancy of Orleans, and her son-in-law Philip Overholt of Dumfries, VA. She was the loving grandmother of Mark Overholt and his wife Amy of Pulaski, VA, Ryan Overholt of Kingston, Kate O’Brien and her fiancé Mike Jopson of Brewster, and Alicia Hyde and her husband Jeff of Orleans. She was also great-grandmother “Grossmama” to Meleah Overholt, Jackson, Lilyana and Maverick Overholt, Camden and Callie O’Brien, and Noah and Maya Hyde. She is also survived by her much loved Goddaughter Jeanne Ruddy of Lake Katrine, NY.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 6 from 4-6 p.m. at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA 02653. A burial service will be held in Troy, NY on August 15, 2016.
