EASTHAM – Virginia (Rochi) Peterson, 75, of Eastham passed away on Monday, September 27 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston after an extended illness with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. She was the beloved wife of Ronald C. Peterson for 53 years.
Virginia Gail was born to the late John A. and Ruth (Briggs) Rochi in Jersey City, NJ on March 20, 1946. She grew up in Rochelle Park, NJ and graduated from Hackensack, NJ high school. Thereafter, she attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and met Ron, the love of her life. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and went on to teach high school Home Economics. Ron and Ginny moved around from Massachusetts to Florida before settling in Franklin Lakes, NJ, where they lived for over 20 years and raised their family. In 1996 she and her husband purchased Atlantic Well Drilling in Eastham, MA and for the next 24 years she ran the office end of the business. She was the voice on the other end of the phone that often calmly handled customers frantic no water emergencies.
She is survived by her husband and her daughter, Kristine Miller (and husband Scott) of Darien, CT. She was predeceased by her daughter Suzanne Faith Peterson, age 2 years. She had four grandchildren, Grant, Ruthie, Carley, and Alice Miller. She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline Every of Wyckoff, NJ, and 11 nieces and nephews.
She loved being called “Agga” by her adored grandchildren; a name that stuck when they could not say Grandma. Known as Ginny to all friends and family, she was known for her kindness and selflessness. Ginny had a dry sense of humor, a quick wit, and was always ready for a game of Uno or to work on a puzzle. The annual summer visit of the grandchildren and days spent on the Cape’s beaches were always long anticipated and greatly enjoyed.
A memorial service and internment will be held on October 15 at 1:00 PM at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.; followed by a celebration of life with family and friends at the Miller residence in Darien, CT.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Tufts Medical Center, Boston, or The March of Dimes.
