He was born to the late William Kraft and Elizabeth Nowak on July 5, 1939, in New York City. Walter was raised in Queens, New York, and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School. He went on to receive his undergraduate degree from the City College of New York and his MBA from Adelphi University on Long Island.
Walter met Erika in Cologne, Germany, while serving a tour of duty as a Lieutenant in the United States Army. They married in 1965, and spent their early lives in the New York/New Jersey area before settling in Cape Cod in 2002. Walter doted on his daughter Michele and always put his family first. Over the course of their 49 years of marriage, Walter and Erika traveled all over the world and collected many unusual artifacts. Walter worked as an IT Auditor until he retired in 2002. He was passionate about his wife, travel, and his military service.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife, Erika, his daughter Michele Martin, son-in-law, Brian Martin, and his grandchildren, Ella and Andrew who live in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Morris, brother-in-law Martin Morris, of The Villages, Florida, and their children.

Visiting hours will be from 4p-6p on Tuesday, May 6th at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA. A funeral service will be held at 10a on Wednesday, May 7th in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
