William Alstete, 92, of South Orleans, MA (formerly of Old Tappan) passed away on March 8, 2021. Born in New York City, he was raised in Germany and a longtime resident of Old Tappan, NJ. He served in the US Army as a high-speed radio operator for the Far East Command in Japan during the Korean War and then attended Bergen County Technical High School on the GI Bill of Rights. He was co-owner of B&E Woodworking for 20 years, and was then appointed manager of sheet metal fabrication at KW Control Systems, in Middletown, NY. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, and award-winning bird carver. Beloved husband of Ruth Marie (nee Derfuss). Father of Jeffrey and his wife Marta and Andrew. Loving grandfather of Jessica. Also survived by his sister Dorothy Ingram.
