Born in New Haven, Connecticut, on November 6, 1942, Bill was the beloved husband of Barbara (Spadola) Carr for 58 years and a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Bill graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven in 1960. After completing two years of college, he proudly served for five years in the United States Army Reserve. He began his career as a laboratory technician with Armstrong Rubber before spending many years as a wholesale sales representative serving specialty paint product retailers throughout Connecticut. He later worked for Sisk Brothers in Hamden and East Haven. After relocating to Cape Cod with Barbara in 2012, Bill enjoyed working as both a Ranger and Starter at Captains Golf Course in Brewster, where he met new people every day and formed many lasting friendships.
For more than four decades, Bill called Cheshire home. Throughout much of that time, he also worked part-time as a bartender at several local establishments, where his friendly personality and easy conversation helped him develop countless lasting friendships. Bill and Barbara treasured the many friendships and memories they shared with friends over the years.
Above all else, Bill was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Michael and his wife, Rita, of Simsbury, Connecticut; his daughter, Colleen Georgescu and her husband, Mark, of Cheshire, Connecticut; his cherished grandchildren, Haley, Sean, Meghan, and Brady; as well as several cherished nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Joseph T. Carr and Margaret (O'Leary) Carr, and by his brother, Thomas J. Carr.
Bill and Barbara shared a love of travel and enjoyed many memorable trips together throughout the United States, Italy, the Caribbean, and Mexico. The experiences they shared and the memories they created together were among the great joys of their life together.
Bill was an avid sports fan who faithfully followed the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants, and UConn athletics. One of his greatest joys was supporting his grandchildren in their athletic pursuits. Whether the game was close to home or many miles away, Bill could often be found in the stands cheering them on, taking pride in their accomplishments and creating memories that his family will treasure forever.
Bill will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and countless fond memories that will continue to bring comfort to all who knew him.
To celebrate Bill's life and faith, family and friends are invited to attend a Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish in Cheshire, Connecticut.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Jimmy Fund, or a charity of one's choice.
