William “Bill” J. Hannon, 88, long time resident of East Orleans, MA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on January 26, 2023. Bill was born on June 5, 1934 in Hartford CT to the late William and Dorothy (Lathrop) Hannon.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Shirley; daughter Mary Butler and her husband Tom of Salem, CT; daughter Susan Hannon of Barrington, RI; and his treasured grandson, Will Butler of West Hartford, CT.
Bill was a kind hearted, quick witted and compassionate man. He had an infectious smile, a way of listening to people to have them feel heard, always with a word of encouragement and a zest for life. Spending time with Bill was always a blessing.
Bill leaves behind his sister Mary Hannon of Tolland, CT, brother in law David Shea of Colchester, CT and sister in law Nancy Hannon of Coventry, CT. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his brother David, sister Elizabeth and her husband George Dargati and his sister Dorothy Shea.
Funeral Services will be celebrated on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00AM at St Joan of Arc Church, 61 Canal Rd, Orleans, MA. A private burial will follow.
