Alice Marie Trevithick passed away on September 17, 2025. She went to sleep peacefully at her residence of the past few years, Mease Manor, located near her daughter Ann Shinners in Dunedin, Florida.
Blessing her large family, friends and neighbors with her nearly 103 years of life, Alice kept busy right up to her last few days playing her favorite games, singing songs and laughing with those around her. She truly lived by her own motto, “Make your own fun wherever you are. It’s your own fault if you’re bored!” Alice was born October 29, 1922, in Schenectady, New York, to Mary and Romeo Crepeau. She earned her Bachelor of Education from the State University of New York at Oneota in 1944 and taught first grade for several years. While in college she learned to play Bridge, playing regularly into her mid-90’s. She met her husband Tom Trevithick in their hometown of Schenectady while he was on leave with the Army during WWII and wed on April 19,1947. After residing in New York and Cincinnati, Ohio, Alice and Tom were happy when General Electric moved their growing family in 1963 to sunny Ormond Beach, Florida, for the start of the Apollo Space Program.
Across the decades in Florida, “Mrs. T.” kept busy with a variety of activities including bowling, bridge club, dancing, golf, tennis, bike riding, reading, canoeing and walking on the beach. Charitable organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Sierra Club and many groups at Prince of Peace Catholic Church received Alice’s volunteer help. With five girls and one boy, a large portion of Alice’s volunteer spirit was especially directed at all the schools that her children attended. She was a shining example of her faith in God and the Catholic church.
Alice liked a good joke and laughed easily at herself. She enjoyed many FSU football games in Tallahassee and cheered on the Seminoles loudly while watching games on TV. Ever the welcoming matriarch, Alice especially enjoyed hosting the lively gatherings of her six kids, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and all her in-laws. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Victor Crepeau, her husband Tom of 60 years, daughter Joan Elefante and son Tommy Trevithick. Those who remember her with abundant heart-felt memories include her daughters: Carolyn Krieger (Joe) Tallahassee ,FL; Ann Shinners (Michael) Dundedin, FL; Liz Trevithick, West Palm Beach, FL; Susie Wilderman (Dave) Acworth, Georgia; grandchildren: Christine Mckenzie, Christopher Lenczyk, Sharon Ford, Brian Shinners, Julie Shinners, Kyle Trevithick, Karly White, Patrick Oremus, Clay Wilderman and Kevin Wilderman; great grandchildren: Cade and Max Mckenzie, Brennan and Allie Ford, Kinsley White, and Nicholas and Matthew Shinners; Sister-In-Law Beth Hunter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
