Alicia Vostrejs, age 97, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, a family who loved her dearly, and a legacy that will continue for generations to come.
Alicia was a woman of deep faith, a devoted mother, and someone who truly loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Her Catholic faith was an important part of who she was, and she was deeply committed to her religion and her beloved Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Her faith provided a foundation for her life, guiding her through its joys and sorrows and giving her strength along the way.
As a stay-at-home mother, Alicia devoted much of her life to raising her ten children. She poured her heart into her family, giving of herself in countless ways that may never be fully measured but will always be remembered. Being a mother was one of her greatest callings, and the love she gave her children became part of a family legacy that will continue through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her life reminds us that some of the greatest accomplishments are not found in worldly success, but in the lives we nurture, the love we share, and the memories we leave behind.
After her children were grown, Alicia embraced the opportunity to explore more of the world. She loved traveling and experiencing new places, adding countless adventures and stories to her life's journey. She also found joy in the simple pleasures that made life special. She lovingly tended to her gardenia bush, enjoyed playing cards with the girls, and treasured sitting at the beach, watching the waves roll in and admiring the beauty and peacefulness of the ocean. These moments reflected her appreciation for life and its many blessings.
Alicia understood that a beautiful life is made up of both grand adventures and quiet, meaningful moments. Whether traveling across the world, sharing laughter over a card game, caring for her gardenia bush, or sitting peacefully by the sea, she found ways to enjoy the world around her. At 97 years old, she leaves behind a lifetime of experiences, stories, and memories that her loved ones will hold close to their hearts.
The words of Proverbs 31 beautifully reflect the life of a woman whose faith, love, and devotion to her family were so deeply woven into who she was:
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” — Proverbs 31:25 (NIV)
And further in Proverbs 31:28–29:
“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.’”
These verses serve as a loving tribute to Alicia and the life she lived. Her strength was found in her faith, her dignity in the way she carried herself, and her blessings in the family she raised and the generations that followed. Her legacy is not measured simply by the 97 years she lived, but by the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who knew her.
Alicia is survived by eight of her ten children: Carolyn, Janette, Diedre, Ronald, Michael, Darlene, Renee, and Randall. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward, as well as her dear friend Shirley, whose friendship was a treasured part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert and John; her sons, Robert and David; her parents; and her brother, LeRoy. While their absence has undoubtedly left its own sorrow in the family, there is comfort in the hope of eternal life and the promise of being reunited in God's loving presence.
As family and friends reflect on Alicia's remarkable life, they can take comfort in knowing that a life filled with faith, love, and devotion never truly ends. It continues in the stories shared around the table, the family traditions carried on, the laughter remembered, and the countless ways her love has shaped the people she leaves behind.
Perhaps her memory will return most often in the quietest moments: in the beauty of a gardenia in bloom, in the laughter of a card game, in the gentle rhythm of waves upon the shore, or in the gathering of family whose lives were forever changed because she was their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Ninety-seven years of life. A lifetime of love. A legacy of faith and family. Alicia's journey on this earth has ended, but the love she planted in the hearts of her family will continue to grow for generations to come. May God welcome her into His eternal kingdom, grant her everlasting peace, and comfort all those who mourn her passing.
May she rest in the loving arms of the Lord she faithfully served, reunited with those who went before her, and surrounded by the peace and grace of heaven.
Catholic Mass will be October 26 at 10 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with inurnment to follow at Volusia Memorial Park in Ormond Beach, Florida
Rest peacefully, Alicia. You were deeply loved, your life made a difference, and your memory will forever remain a blessing to all who knew you.
