

Alwin "AL" Lee Stracener, 67, finished the race on June 16, 2012. He was born September 19, 1944 to Craig and Inez Stracener in Birmingham, AL. After high school he attended Daytona Beach Community College. He managed Craig's Gifts for many years as well as enjoying his position as a Reserve Officer for the Ormond Beach Police Department and Reserve Deputy for the Volusia County Sheriff's Department. He will be most remembered as the Security Manager at the Daytona Beach International Speedway where he retired last year after 40 years of service. He always enjoyed working at the Speedway and continued on after retirement as a Lieutenant until his passing. He was a member of The Masons, The Shriners, Tomoka Oaks Country Club, and the Blue Knights. He enjoyed spending time with his family, muscle cars, motorcycles, golfing, NASCAR, was an avid video gamer, and loved watching football, especially his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide.
He is survived by his children, daughter Aleisa Leyva, son James Stracener, grandson Thomas Craig Leyva, mother Inez Stracener, sister Edwina Price, former spouse Jane Hastings, extended family, his beloved Speedway family and countless friends.
A funeral service will be held 6:00PM Friday, June 22, 2012 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00PM until the time of service.
