

Andrew Galan White, born June 28 1910 in Cincinnati, Ohio, died March 9, 2011. He was the fourth of thirteen children born to Andrew and Vallie White. He is survived by two sisters, Peggy Clemons and Candras White; two sons, Andrew and Michael three grand children, Michael, Andrew and Ruth; and one great grand child Caleb Goldner.
He was married to Letitia for 55 years. She predeceased him in 1996. His second wife, Lushia, predeceased him in 2004. He served in the US Navy during WWII as a petty officer stationed on Attu in the Aleutian Islands. He attended the Chase business college, Chase College of law, Xavier University graduate school of business administration and a large number of adult education courses offered by the Flagler County board of education. In civilian life he worked for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier and supervisor. After retiring from the postal service he and his late brother, John, started a general contracting company which was the SBA small business of the year in 1979.
He found time in his busy life to serve as a little league manager and coach; Boy Scout troop leader and in many other civic organizations and projects. He retired to Palm Coast, Florida with Letitia where he resided until his death. He was active in a number of social organizations. He was a sixty year member of alpha phi alpha fraternity, a 33rd degree mason, a member of Sigma Pi Phi fraternity, Toast Masters, member and past president of the African American Caribbean Heritage Organization, Treasurer of Mt Zion United Methodist Church, member of the board of directors of the Hamilton County State Bank, and a founding member of the Host of Palm Coast. Mr. White was actively involved in the establishment of the United Methodist Church of Palm Coast. Upon his remarriage he joined St. Thomas Episcopal Church with which he maintained his membership until his death. His body gave out but his spirit lives in the memory of those whose lives he touched. A Memorial service was held , Saturday March 19, 2011 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church 5400 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast.
