

Ann Lindsey Rossi died peacefully at her home surrounded by loving family. The family will receive friends Tuesday (today) from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 548 N. Nova Rd. Ormond Beach. A funeral mass will be celebrated, 10 AM Wednesday, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Rev William Samborsky presiding. Interment will follow at Volusia Memorial Park.
Born Aug 6, 1946 in Coral Gables, Florida, Ann was the daughter of the late Joseph Paul and Thelma Bowling Lindsey. She grew up in the Orlando area and was a graduate of Evans High School. She earned an AA degree from Orlando Community College and then a BS in Elementary Education from Florida State University. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority while at FSU.
She had a thirty year career as a classroom teacher beginning in 1968 at Freedom 7 Elementary School in Cocoa Beach, Fl. When she moved to Daytona Beach, she taught five years at Westside Elementary and then finished her career at Tomoka Elementary. She loved teaching and interacting with her students and never forgot one of her student’s names. She was especially proud that she supervised the training of fifteen senior student interns. She remained in contact with many of them throughout the years. She was named Best Mannered Teacher by the The National League of Junior Cotillion in 1996. She was a 15 year member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
After her retirement in 2001, Ann stayed busy making quilts, scrap booking, doing needle point, genealogy research, fashioning arts and crafts projects for her grandchildren, and making holiday T shirts for all her guests at holiday festivities.
She is survived by her loving husband, George, her son Douglas Walker (Michelle) of Jacksonville and grandchildren, Mackenzie and Evan Walker, her brother, Joseph of Orlando and kindred friend Henry Dixon of Orlando. She is also survived by stepsons, Jeff Rossi (Denise), Terrance Rossi, and Michael Rossi. Additionally she had four step grandchildren, Michelle Stembler (Andy), Brittany, Brianna, and Michael Rossi
