

Memorial Service for Dr. Arthur C. Jacoby III, "Jake" will be 2 pm Tuesday May 31 at Grace Lutheran Evangelical Church 338 Ocean Shore Boulevard, Ormond Beach. Jake was born July 13, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA and died at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center on April 28, 2011. He graduated from Lenape Regional High School, Medford, NJ in 1961 and went on to receive his BA and MBA in Business Administration from Temple University. On June 19, 1965 he married Ann Kutra Jacoby. They lived in Philadelphia and New Jersey before relocating to Hartford, CT. In 1971 their daughter Kristin was born. They moved to Ormond Beach, Florida in 1972. Jake managed several Exxon stations before he started teaching economics at Daytona Beach Community College and Embry Riddle University. The family then moved to State College, PA so Jake could pursue his PhD in economics from Penn State University. Until he retired in 2005, Jake was the senior economist for the U.S. Department of Transportation Washington, D.C. Jake and Ann moved back to Ormond Beach after Jake's retirement. Jake had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to surf fish, garden, and play the cello. He began learning the cello before he retired and played with a group of musicians at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Point of Rocks, MD. After retiring to Ormond Beach, he joined Grace Lutheran Evangelical Church and continued playing his cello there. Jake is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann Jacoby and his daughter, Kristin Kiddy, son-in-law, Kevin and two grandsons, Ethan and Tyler. Jake's sister, June Martinez, resides in Buda, TX. He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Jacoby. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, Ormond Beach, FL.
