

Beatrice Eve Odu was born December 25, 1954, in Igarra, Nigeria. She was the first child of Adebayo Ukanah and was the eldest of eight siblings. She graduated from the Sacred Heart High School in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. She received her nurse training from the Sacred Heart Hospital in Abeokuta, Nigeria, and also attended the University Teaching Hospital in Ibadan, Nigeria.
She was united in holy matrimony to Stephen Onobere Odu, her high school sweetheart, on April 21, 1979. This union was blessed with four children—all boys. She earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing as well as a master’s degree of public health. She worked at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, for 19 years as a registered nurse where she was the recipient of the prestigious Nursing Excellence Award and also became a Certified Mental Health Professional (CMHP). She was the administrator, co-owner, and cofounder of Bayside Care Center, Inc. assisted living facility, Port Orange, Florida. She later earned her real estate license.
Beatrice Odu was an active member of the Beville Road Church of Christ in Daytona Beach, Florida. She lived a devoted Christian life, and her influence will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She liked classic cars, reading, and she enjoyed cooking for her loved ones. She quietly departed this life on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach, Florida, after a long battle with cancer.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her loving husband, Stephen Odu, and her children: Simisi Odu, daughter-in-law, Adri Odu, grandchildren, Enzo and Menina Odu, Azemata Odu, daughter-in-law, Christina Odu, grandchildren, Monroe and Zane Odu, Omataye Odu, daughter-in-law, Stephannie Odu, grandchildren, Luka and Asa Odu, and O'seremi Odu.
The Odu family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Oncology, Cardiology, and Nephrology teams at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and the Oncology Department at the Halifax Health Medical Center as well as the Oncology and Hematology outpatient teams at Moffitt Cancer Center. They would also like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and support staff who provided care and comfort.
A visitation for Beatrice will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Beville Road Church of Christ, 850 Beville Rd, Daytona Beach , Florida, followed by a Celebration of Life funeral service at 10:00 AM.
