Brenda Prior Foley

Brenda was a proud graduate of the University of Florida with a major in education. She was a Kindergarten teacher in Palatka, Florida for 37 years, where she was passionate about her vocation and giving children a good start on their journey in life. She was an avid supporter of the performing arts in Daytona Beach, Jacksonville and Orlando and a longtime supporter of the Van Cliburn Foundation in Fort Worth, Texas.

She was a member of Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church where she was instrumental in starting a volunteer outreach with Osceola Elementary School where church members assisted teachers in the classroom. She organized a story time reading program with the children at the Rose Marie Bryon Children’s Center in Daytona Beach and coordinated the churches participation in Operation Christmas Child.

Brenda is survived by her husband, the Reverend Michael Foley, daughters Stephanie Broekema (Jack) and Suzanne Johnson (Zack) and five wonderful grandchildren, Gavin, Reygan, Ethan, Jackson and Luke. She is also survived by her brother Rick Prior. She is predeceased by her parents Buster and Patty Prior and grandmother, Alice Schweiger.

Visitation will be Tuesday 9/18 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church – 105 Amsden Road – (Amsden and N. Halifax in Ormond Beach) (386-441-0300). A celebration of her life and faith will be held on Wednesday 9/19 at 5:00pm in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church for new children’s ministry initiatives.
