

Carol Hornbeck, 93, of Ormond Beach passed peacefully at home on Thursday December 21, 2017. Born in Southampton, NY, Carol was the daughter of the late Emerson M. and Ruth Haviland Raynor. In 1946 Carol graduated from Boston University in Cambridge, MA, and was married to Richard I. Hornbeck. They became longtime residents of New Cannon CT, where they raised their three children. Carol was very active in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church; she volunteered her time with Hospice; and she was a member of the DAR. She enjoyed traveling and she was an avid reader. She admired a variety of artists, and one of her hobbies included oil painting. She loved people. And you knew that if Carol was involved, it was going to be a good time!
Carol is predeceased by her husband, Richard (2008), and her youngest daughter, Susan Gooderham (2010). Left to cherish her memory are her children, Stephanie Olin (husband Robert), of Ormond Beach, FL, and Richard Sahler Hornbeck (wife Pamela), of Scottsdale, AZ. Carol is also survived by her sister and brother in law, Priscilla and William Barringer of AZ and her son in law, Miles Gooderham (Michelle) of CO. Her grandchildren include, Matthew Olin, Jeremy (Amy) Hornbeck, Justin (Madison) Hornbeck, Kyle Gooderham, and Katey Gooderham. Great grandchildren include Piper, Will and Shane Hornbeck; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, at 10:30 AM at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 North Nova Road ,Ormond Beach.
