Charles Leo “Chuck” Phillips, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Daytona Beach Florida on November 6, 2012. Chuck was born March 15, 1935 in Barberville, Florida to the late Oren Phillips and Minnie Peterson Phillips-Boyette. He was a native of Palatka but resided in Daytona Beach for the last 40 years of his life. He proudly served in the US Navy. As an avid NASCAR fan, race car driver and mechanic his love for racing was second only to his love for his family. He was a loving, caring and kind gentleman with a giant-size heart. He was a good, hardworking person who took great pride in his work. Surviving family includes two sons and daughters in law Leroy (Angela), and Randy (Jennifer), five daughters Peggy Nicholson, Wendy Johnston, Pamela Collins, Shelly Pierce and Angela Sanders. He is also survived by four sisters Marie Johns, Diane Barnes, Juanita Long and Jackie Morgan; 13 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren. Besides his parents, Chuck was also preceded in death by one brother, Billy Phillips and one sister Lou Yeomans. Funeral services will be held November 19, 2012 11:00 am at Emporia Baptist Church 403 Emporia Rd. Pierson, Fl 32180 with Pastor Jim McMaster officiating.
