Colleen Janet Wells, 86 of Ormond Beach passed away peacefully at Flagler Memorial Hospital on 9/21/12. Colleen (Mo) was born in Sanford, North Carolina on June 18th, 1926 to William and Lillian Withers. She is predeceased by both of her parents and her husband, John McMillan Wells. She is survived by her 3 children, Terry Sylvester, Mickey Wells, Janet Wells (Randy Irwin), 2 grandchildren – Larry Schaefer and Jennifer Marshall (Sean Kent), 1 great grandson, Landen Blane Kent, brother Bill Withers (Jan) and her cat Elvis. Colleen's life was a testament to her strong will and spirit. She flew an airplane at age 18. She traveled extensively around the world. She was a gifted artist, an amazing cook and loved her time at the beach, surf fishing. Colleen worked until she was 80 years old rarely, if ever, missing a day even through months of breast cancer treatment. She worked in sales for many years and at an age where most people are ready to retire, she took on a new interest, working with Alzheimer's patients at Ormond in the Pines. She ran circles around all of us and we now find peace in knowing that she has reached her well deserved “retirement”. The family will celebrate her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alzheimer's research or to an animal shelter of your choice. We thank the staff at Sterling House for the love and care they showed Mo. She was truly one of a kind and our world is a better place because of her.
