March 11, 1944 – October 18, 2026
Dora Filoia, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and cherished member of her community, passed away on October 18, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on March 11, 1944, in Pietradefusi, Italy, she carried her Italian heritage, traditions, and deep love of family throughout her life. She made her home in Ormond Beach, Florida, where she built a life filled with faith, friendship, laughter, generosity, and love.
Dora was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carmine Filoia Sr., who passed away in 2009. Their shared life and the family they built together remain an important part of her enduring legacy.
With her outgoing personality and warm, engaging spirit, Dora had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. She loved chatting with family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers, often turning a brief encounter into a meaningful conversation. Her lively nature and unmistakable Italian accent made a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Dora expressed her love most naturally through food. She delighted in preparing traditional Italian meals and gathering people around her table. Her home was always open to family and friends, and her generous feasts were filled with delicious food, lively conversation, and affection. Among her many specialties were her signature cream puffs, a treasured treat that will be remembered fondly in family stories for years to come.
Being a grandmother brought Dora immense joy. Her four grandchildren—Isabella, Gianna, Massimo, and Olivia—held a special place in her heart. During their summer visits, she loved preparing special breakfasts for them and filling their days with warmth, care, and memorable moments. To her grandchildren, she was their beloved Nonna: a source of comfort, affection, wonderful meals, and unconditional love. The traditions she created and the time she shared with them will remain a lasting part of their lives.
Dora’s love of family extended across generations and across the ocean to Italy. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Olga, and her many relatives in Italy, with whom she shared a connection to her birthplace, heritage, and family traditions. Her Italian roots were a source of lasting connection and pride, and the bonds of family remained central to her life.
Dora’s generosity reached far beyond her family. She devoted her time and energy to the Church, giving freely of herself in service to others. Her faith was reflected in the kindness, hospitality, and willingness to help that she showed throughout her life. She also enjoyed the companionship of friends and took part in many social activities, including bingo nights at The Moose Lodge. Whether enjoying an evening with friends or welcoming loved ones into her home, Dora treasured the connections that brought people together.
Dora will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Pasquale and his spouse, Melinda, and Carmine and his spouse, Celeste; her four grandchildren, Isabella, Gianna, Massimo, and Olivia; her sister, Olga; and her many relatives in Italy, along with the countless friends and neighbors whose lives she touched.
Her family and friends will deeply miss her voice, her conversations, her cooking, and her unmistakable presence. Yet Dora’s spirit will live on through the traditions she passed down, the generosity she modeled, and the memories that continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who loved her.
Though Dora has now joined her beloved husband, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be forever remembered, forever loved, and forever missed. To her family, she will always be their Nonna.
