Dorothy A. Jones

Dorothy King Jones, born August 25, 1918 in Bismark, North Dakota, passed away on February 27, 2014.

Daughter of the late Dr. Herbert V. King and Abbie Abbott King, she graduated from Morgantown, WV High School, West Virginia University and Washington University.

She went on to work in Industrial Advertising in New York and Pittsburgh. She married Frank E. Thompson and had one son, Frank King Thompson, who preceded her in death, along with daughter-in-law, Patricia Thompson.

She married Guy Storrs Jones in 1975, and after retiring from the University of Missouri, they retired to Ormond each, Fl. where they had a very active life.

She was active in sports and volunteer activities, held memberships in many intellectual organizations and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.

Dorothy is survived by her grandsons, Scott and Eric Thompson, Fallbrook, CA; stepson Robert (Linda) Jones, Cumming, GA; stepdaughter Linda (Art) Van Tuinen,, Sylvania, OH, and several step grandchildren; and caregivers: Gracie, Dora & Nancy, who have been part of her extended family for several years.

She leaves behind a lifetime of lasting and meaningful memories for all who knew her.

Family will be welcoming friends at Dorothy's residence on Sunday, March 23, from 12N to 2:00PM.
