Dorothy Ann "Dot" Smith-Horinka

Dorothy Ann “Dot” Smith- Horinka, 78 of Ormond Beach passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 from a short but courageous battle with cancer. Dorothy came to the Ormond area in 1949 from Long Island, NY. She then graduated from Mainland High School in 1951 and went on to attend Massey Business College graduating in 1952. Dorothy spent two years as Head secretary at a division of General Motors in Jacksonville, FL. She and her loving husband Richard were married 58 years. She cherished her grandchildren and especially great-grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed working in her garden, crafting and cooking, but most of all she had a special place in her heart for her animals. Dorothy will truly be missed by many loved ones and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Josie Smith and is survived by her husband Richard; children- Richard Hart of Boulder, CO, Ronald Horinka of Ormond Beach and Lynda Horinka of Stanley, NC; grandchildren- David, Sam, Scott, Shelby and Sean; great-grandchildren- Audry, Slade, and Charlotte. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 3:30pm at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home chapel, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL. Burial will take place at Jacksonville National Cemetery 4083 Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL, 32218 on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 11:30.
