July 18, 1926 – October 29, 2025
With great love and deep sadness, our family announces the passing of Edward Joseph Weeks, who left us peacefully at the age of 99. A cherished family member and loyal friend, Edward touched countless lives with his strength, dedication, and unmistakable charm.
Born on July 18, 1926, in Harrisville, New York, Edward proudly served his country for more than 40 years. A rare individual, he served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, demonstrating unwavering courage and commitment. He first entered the U.S. Navy at just 17 years old on July 22, 1943. Following the creation of the U.S. Air Force in 1947, he transitioned to the new branch before briefly returning to the Navy from 1953 to 1955. He then continued his distinguished career in the Air Force until his retirement in 1985.
Edward served over 8,000 hours in the air as a radio operator, gunner, and transportation supervisor. He flew aboard blimps, patrol bombers, and transport aircraft, traveling the world in service to his country. Over the course of his remarkable military career, he earned numerous medals and honors recognizing his dedication and bravery.
Those who knew Edward best will remember him as a man of quiet strength — one who spoke few words unless the moment called for wit. With a dry, sarcastic sense of humor, a sharp mind, and a presence that drew others in, he was always effortlessly charming and forever handsome. His legacy will live on in the stories, smiles, and memories of all who were blessed to know him.
Edward will be missed dearly, and his family takes comfort knowing he lived a long, honorable, and extraordinary life of service, adventure, and love.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, located at 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Florida, on November 15, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A graveside service will follow at Volusia Memorial Park on the same day, starting at 11:00 am.
