Eunice C. Wathen, 97, of Ormond Beach passed away peacefully on June 22, 2013 at Sara House II in Ormond Beach. She was born December 3, 1915 in Glastonbury, Ct. to Robert and Anna Lee Chapman the youngest of four children. She graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1934 and then attended business school in Hartford, Ct. Eunice spent most of her working career in the insurance industry. She married Thad A. Wathen, on December 30, 1940; they moved to the Ormond Beach area in 1980, Thad passed away May 25, 2011. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crosswords puzzles, bridge, camping, fishing, and boating. She volunteered with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office C.O.P. program and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 17-2 in Hartford, CT. Eunice is survived by her son, Bill, of Ormond Beach, nieces Anna Pate, of Hebron, Ct, and Elizabeth Richard, of The Villages, FL.
A funeral service will be held on 11:00AM Thursday June 27, 2013 at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL. A visitation will be from 10:00AM until the time of service.
