Florence was born in Lexington, Kentucky on November 21, 1934 to Winford Lacy and Marjorie Price. Her family later moved to Baltimore, Maryland before finally residing in the Daytona Beach area where Florence met and married her beloved husband of 53 years, Ronald Jacobs. They had three children: Theresa of Ormond Beach, Tracy (Cromwell) of Ormond Beach, and Mark of Miami. Her three children are blessed to have been loved by such a compassionate, caring mother.
Mrs. Jacobs graduated Mainland High School in 1953. Her high school interests included women’s basketball and journalism. Up until her passing, Florence enjoyed helping organize high school reunions and attending get-togethers with cherished high school friends. This past year, she attended her 60TH Mainland High School class reunion.
Florence was an active member of St. Brendan’s Church where she volunteered at the school as well as devoted her time as a Girl Scout leader when her children were of school age. Florence was a member of the Women’s Police Auxiliary when her husband served as a police officer with the city of Ormond Beach. She is a retired insurance claims specialist with American General Insurance.
Travel, dancing and being surrounded by friends and family brought Florence much happiness. She enjoyed hosting parties at her home, welcoming all with her beautiful smile.
A special light in her heart are her two grandsons, Joseph Cromwell of Phuket, Thailand and Christian Jacobs of Singapore.
Florence is survived by two brothers, Dan Lacy and David Lacy, and is predeceased by her brother Robert Lacy. She regarded her sisters-in-law, Marlene Lacy, Carol Lacy and Bettie Lacy as her “sisters by love”, and relished her time with her nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
