Frances E. Harn, age 99, of Lake Helen, FL, passed away May 11, 2022, at Orange City Nursing and Rehab Center.
Frances was born May 24, 1922, in Cache, Illinois. She moved to Daytona Beach in 1977. She earned her BS in Education from Southern Illinois University and her MS in Education from Illinois State University. She started her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in rural southern Illinois which lead to 32 years of service as a reading specialist in Illinois Public Schools. When she moved to Florida, she started a second career of 20 years in Banking, beginning as a teller and retiring as a Manager for First Union Bank.
Frances was actively involved in several local churches in the area over the years including, Ormond First United, Tomoka Christian Church and Lake Helen Methodist Church.
Her volunteer service included Reading teacher for Volusia Literacy Council, Meals on Wheels, Halifax Urban Ministry, Family Renew Community, Great Kids Tutorial program, Stephen’s Ministry, Disciple I Teacher, Care Givers Day Out, Church office volunteer, Sandwich Ministry for Homeless, Prayer Team Member, and Jesus Clinic Volunteer.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Diane Moore and son-in-law, Lowell Moore of Lake Helen, FL., her son, Charles Harn of Scottsdale, AZ, her daughter-in-law, Victoria Harn of Ormond Beach, FL, two grandsons, their spouses and four great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service for family and close friends will take place at Volusia Memorial Park, Ormond Beach, on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at 3:00 p.m.
