Gary D. Blair, Born March 16, 1946 to Harold and Roberta Blair. Passed away January 13, 2019 at AdventHealth Daytona Hospital with his family by his side. He is survived by wife Carol Blair (Lent), son Gary Blair, son Michael Blair, daughter-in-law Rhonda Blair, Grandson Damon Blair, and Granddaughter Samantha Williams. He was preceded in death by his mother Roberta Blair, his father Harold Blair, and daughter-in-law Jacqueline Blair.
He went to Skyview High School and graduated from Mountain State College in Parkersburg, WV with an Accounting Degree. He married Carol Lent on June 12, 1965. He was employed at Dye & Dye Public Accounting Firm and then opened his own Accounting Firm in Marietta, Ohio. He then relocated to Florida in 1992 and purchased Business Services of Ormond Beach and was successful until suffering a stroke in August of 2004 which forced him to retire.
During the 70’s and 80’s you would find Gary on the weekend at a motocross track somewhere on the east coast, wrenching and coaching his boys as they raced. He spent a lot of time with his sons while they were growing up taking them to race motocross. He was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan. He also loved showing his collector car “Susie” a 1960 Nash Metropolitan. In his later years, after suffering his stroke, he enjoyed watching Walker Texas Ranger, Law and Order, and Gunsmoke.
For friends and family in Florida there will be a celebration of Gary’s life on Wednesday January 23rd at 5:00 PM held at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Road Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00PM at the funeral home.
For friends and family in Ohio there will be a celebration of Gary’s life on Sunday January 27th at McClure, Schafer, Lankford funeral home, 314 4th St., Marietta, OH, where family will receive friends from 2:00PM-3:00PM, with a service to follow at 3:00PM. www.lankfordfh.com
