Gerardo Masi

Gerry grew up in Castelgrande, Italy along with his future wife, Francesca. He later worked in Milan and Switzerland as a young man. He proudly served in the Italian Navy before immigrating to Montreal in 1968, where he and Francesca were married and had two sons. A few years later, they moved to New York, where Gerry gained his American citizenship. Gerry and Francesca lived and raised their family in Schenectady, New York for over 40 years where Gerry worked at St. Clare's Hospital for 29 years before retiring. They moved to Ormond Beach in 2016 to be closer to their beloved grandchildren. Gerry loved being in his garden, and could also be spotted at the track in Saratoga, where he loved the horses. He enjoyed frequent trips to spend time with extended family in New York, Connecticut, Montreal, Switzerland and Italy. Gerry will be missed deeply by family and friends but his humor, warmth and generosity will not be forgotten.

Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Francesca Masi; son and daughter in law Joseph and Vivian Masi; granddaughter Vita Maxwell Masi and twin grandsons Luca Gerardo and Lane Joseph Masi. He was preceded in death by; son Vito Masi; sister Maria Giuseppa Masi; brother Nicola Masi; sister Caterina Masi and sister Caterina Russo.

A graveside service for Gerry will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Volusia Memorial Park, 550 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, Florida, 32174, followed by an inurnment. A Memorial Mass will also be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Schenectady, New York on Saturday, September 30 at 1:00 PM.
