

Jack P. Hughes, 90, of Palm Coast formerly of Ormond Beach passed away peacefully at home Saturday October 22, 2011. Mr. Hughes was born, March 23, 1921 in NYC, son of the late Elizabeth and Harry Hughes. A veteran of WWII, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. For 35 years he was a buyer for J. L. Hudson Company in NYC until his retirement in 1983. He has been a resident of this area since 1985. His family will always remember how much he enjoyed walking on the beach, playing on the Ormond Beach shuffle board league and being the first person to ride their bicycle over the Granada Bridge in Ormond. He was a member of the Irish American Club of Ormond Beach. Left to Cherish his memory are his grandchildren; Cathy Holland, New Castle, PA; Heather and her husband Shannon Holgate, Boylston, MA; Jennifer and her husband Todd Mellow, Palm Coast; Milissa Holland, Palm Coast; Sean Hughes, Poughkeepsie, NY; Erin and her husband Kevin Crandall, Lackawaxen, PA; 14 great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter . He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen; son, Jack; daughter, Carolyn Holland and his brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
