James Samuel Byrd III

Died July 14, 2026, Ormond Beach, Fl.

James is survived by his Mother Kim Patiry, Father Jim Byrd, Sister Whitney Suplick, Brother Harry Patiry, Step-Father Steve Patiry, Step-Mother Heather Byrd, Step-Brothers Jamison Shroyer and Benjamin Shroyer, Step-Sister Stephanie Rushing and his beloved cat Chloe.

James was multi-faceted, highly intelligent and very creative. He was a software engineer by trade but a musician in his heart. He was an avid composer and performing musician, having written and published a catalogue of original music.

James was also a nationally ranked champion golfer, having competed in and won tournaments throughout the US and internationally. As a high school golfer, James was twice named Florida Junior Player of the Year. He attended Florida State University on a golf scholarship before embarking on his career as a software engineer.

James was a kind-hearted son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. He was universally loved by everyone who knew him and will be most remembered for his generous, giving nature – someone who was always willing to help a friend in need or give of himself to others.
