James (“Jim”, “Jimmy”) Joseph Hollywood, age 86 passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Halifax Medical Center. He was born July 16, 1934 in Staten Island, New York to James and Mary Hollywood whom have preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his sister Catherine Killen.
The family moved to Hollis in Queens, New York where Jim attended St. Gerard’s grammar school and Jamaica High School. He joined the Army in 1953 after graduation from high school during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged in 1955 and went on to work for the American French Cable Company and learned teletype. He attended the Police Academy in 1964 and worked for the NYPD for 21 years doing teletype.
After retirement from the NYPD, he moved the family to Ormond Beach, FL where his hobbies included working with computers and filming special events for friends and family. He also enjoyed golfing and was a NY Giants fan. Jim was a member of the 10-13 club of N.E. Florida, serving as president for 2 years and editor of the newsletter.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Anne Hollywood; daughters, Kerry Hollywood and Kristin (Cameron) Cushenbery; brother, Dennis (Doris) Hollywood; and grandchildren, Kinsley and Colin James Cushenbery.
