

James Doliver Newman, 74, a resident of Ormond Beach for 16 years went home to be with The Lord Sunday, October 12, 2014. Jim was born December 31, 1939 in Huntington, WV to the late James and Virginia Ruth Newman nee Booten. Jim moved to the Ormond Beach area in 1998 from Lexington, KY after his retirement from Ashland Oil, Inc., where he worked as the Director of Shareholder Services for 35 years. He earned his BBA from Marshall University and his MBA from Morehead State University. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and the West Virginia National Guard. Jim was a member of Volusia County Baptist Church and an avid NASCAR fan and follower of Jeff Gordon. Jim was preceded in death by his sister Ruth Newman Lewis. Mr. Newman is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janice Lucas Newman. Also surviving are his daughters Lisa Newman of Winter Park, FL and Deena (Mark) Wesley of Lexington, KY; grandchildren Kori, Kyle, and Konnor of Lexington, KY; aunt Illah Stellar of St. Petersburg, FL; brother-in-law Wayne Lewis of Titusville, FL; nephew Mark (Karin) Lewis and 2 great nephews Jonathan and David Lewis.A visitation will take place Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 in the chapel of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd. Ormond Beach, FL from 1:00-2:00 pm with funeral services to follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be held immediately following at Volusia Memorial Park located at the same address.
