

Janice Monroe, 68, of Holly Hill was promoted to Glory, Monday, September 24, 2012. She leaves behind three sons, Anthony A. (Brenda) Monroe, Timothy A. Monroe and Douglas W. (Jane) Monroe; daughter Tamela L. (Daniel) Davis; 15 beautiful grandchildren whom she adored and two great- grandchildren. Born October 18, 1943 in London KY where she graduated from Bush High School in 1962. She served in the U.S. Army where she met Alfred, a young M.P. stationed with her. They soon married and after Alfred’s discharge from the military, they settled with their young family in Holly Hill, FL. Janice stayed home to raise her four children while her husband served as an Ormond Beach Police Officer. She spent many hours volunteering at Holly Hill Elementary School. She served many years volunteering at The Salvation Army, her church home. She taught Sunday School there for 40 years. She loved the Lord, especially loved to teach children about Him. She also was part of the League of Mercy and Women’s Ministries. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Effie Brown; brothers Jerry & Daryl Brown; daughter-in-law Gayle Monroe; grandson Anthony and the love of her life, Alfred Monroe, who she lost almost a year ago and missed him dearly. She will be missed. Funeral Service will be 11 am Saturday September 29 at the Salvation Army Church, 1555 LPGA Blvd., Daytona Beach. Interment will follow at Volusia Memorial Park.
