

Joseph Scarfone, 96, of Ormond By the Sea, Florida passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026 at Brookdale Senior Living. Joe was born on September 23, 1929 in New York City, New York to Dominick and Rose Scarfone. A proud and patriotic American born to Italian immigrants, he was raised in Manhattan’s Little Italy neighborhood on Broome Street. Joseph is a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School, Bronx NY, class of 1947. He married Phyllis Sapienza on October 27, 1951 and together they raised three wonderful children in the Bronx, New York.
Joseph worked as an electrician in New York City and was a member of IBEW Local 3 until his retirement in 1990. Following his retirement, Joseph and his wife, Phyllis, relocated to Ormond By the Sea, Florida where they built their dream home and enjoyed a life filled with sunshine, blue skies, ocean breezes and relaxation. They cherished every moment of their new chapter together. Joseph had a lifelong passion for bowling and spent countless happy hours rolling strikes and enjoying the camaraderie of friends at Bellaire Lanes and, later, Ormond Lanes.
He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis (2009), and his son, Dominick (2023). He is survived by his son Jack Scarfone (Michelle), his daughter Rosanne Bent née Scarfone (John), grandchildren Anthony, Nicholas, Shannon, Daniel, Megan, Joseph, Andino, great-grandchildren Alexander and Anthony Jr. and his sister Marion Scarglato of Lake Ronkonkoma, NY.
Funeral arrangements will be held in New York at a future date.
