

Laura was the daughter of Owen Harvey Weesner and Florence Brown. The family moved to Daytona Beach when she was seven years old. She attended South Ridgewood Elementary School and graduated from Mainland High School in 1936. She married Joseph (Bill) Davenport in 1937 and moved to Holly Hill, Florida. Bill was a plumber and had his own plumbing business. Laura was active in assisting with the business.
Laura and Bill have four daughters. Betty Bullock of Holly Hill, Mary Sears (Daryl) of Yucaipa, California, Florence (Jim) Howard of Ceresco, Michigan, and Billie Justice of Holly Hill, Florida.
Laura was a member of the Daytona Beach Seventh Day Adventist Church. For seventy years she shared her faith both in words and actions. She loved traveling and was always ready to go, both in the United States and abroad.
Laura loved her family and cherished her many friends. She worked with the Angell and Phelps Candy store for many years. Mayor Chris Wia of Holly Hill proclaimed Laura Davenport Day for her 100th Birthday. She was also a lifetime member of the Holly Hill Historic Museum.
Laura is survived by her four daughters; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; great, great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
A visitation will be held on December 16, 2020, at 11 am at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, with a Funeral Service to follow at 12 pm.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Daytona Beach Seventh Day Adventist Church, Holly Hill Museum, or to a charity that is important to you.
