

Madeline "Rusty" McPherson passed away on Sunday, May 13th after a short illness. She was born on December 27, 1928 to Mary (Beegle) and Lloyd Diehl in Bedford, PA. She met her future husband Archie “Red” McPherson in Bedford during his Naval radio training for WWII. They married in 1945, and enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage prior to his passing. They settled in Framingham, MA for 35 years before retiring to FL. Rusty worked for Sears, and then as clothing demonstrator for Dutchmaid, Inc. for 35 years. She travelled all over, with trips and cruises awarded to her through the company for her “Top10” status. She cherished the people she met through her work, and made so many lasting friendships. She loved bowling, on leagues both up North and here in Florida. They moved to Florida in 1983 and settled in the Bear Creek community, making many friendships. She loved Bingo, bowling, going on the gambling ships, and trips to Biloxi and Branson. She also loved her weekly trip to see Pam and get her hair done. She was known as “The Cookie Lady” for the goodies she would bring to people. She was preceded in death by her husband Archie, and son Todd. She leaves behind her daughter Maureen Clark, grandsons Kyle Mattingly and Anthony Clark, brothers Harold, Raymond and Merle (Ruth) Diehl, brother-in-law Tynor (Jean) McPherson, and sister-in-law Edna McPherson, as well as many, many beloved nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. Visitation will be at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174, Thursday May 17, 2012 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm.
