

Marie C. Coleman, a/k/a MIMI, 71, passed away peacefully from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Mimi was born on January 17, 1955, to Gennaro & Lena Manchisi and was raised in Flushing Queens, New York.
She graduated from Delehanty High School and moved to Daytona Beach where she helped run the family business at the Sunrise Inn and Silver Beach Inn on AIA.
Mimi started selling Avon when she was 14 years old and continued with her side business both in Florida and in Martin, TN and was a member of the Avon President’s Club.
Mimi always had a love for animals, especially horses, that she bought a horse named Apache and rode him every chance she could with a group of wonderful friends in Port Orange. She also had a special love for her dog, RED, a beautiful Irish Setter that followed her everywhere. At that time she met Paul (Tony) Coleman, eventually married him, and moved to Martin, TN where she had 2 children, Robert (Bobby) and Michael.
Mimi started working at the University of Martin in the Business Office then became a Researcher in the offices of Alumni and Development. where she worked for approximately 20 years. She was a member of the Rodeo Booster Club and was inducted into the UTM Rodeo Hall of Fame. Mimi and Tony housed many members of the team in their bunk house for many years.
Her and Tony’s relationship was not permanent, so she then moved back to Daytona Beach with Bobby and Michael. She worked as an administrative assistant at Halifax Plantation in Ormond Beach. Mimi had such a charismatic personality that she was truly respected and loved by everyone she encountered with in Martin, TN and Daytona Beach.
Mimi is survived by her 2 sons, Robert, Michael, her wonderful grandson Michael Anthony, her 2 brothers Nick, his wife Linda, Joseph, her sisters Catherine, her husband Tony and Serena, her husband Billy, 2 brothers-in-law Stan Coleman and his wife Liz, and Alan Coleman. Mimi has 13 nieces and nephews and 21 great-nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 21st at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 S. Nova Road, Ormond Beach FL 32174. A Celebration of Life and Reception will be held following the mass at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home – Ormond Beach, 548 N. Nova, Ormond Beach, FL 32174 from 12p-2pm, at which time, Mimi will be interred in her final place of rest at Volusia Memorial Park, Ormond.
