Mary C. Trant
December 7, 1928 – February 2, 2021
MARY CATHERINE (FAY) TRANT, 92, of Daytona Beach, Florida died February 2, 2021 at her home. She was born December 7, 1928 in Winthrop, MA, daughter of the late Ambrose and Mary (Nestor) Fay.
Mary graduated from Winthrop High School in 1945 and attended Westfield State Teachers College during which time she met future Westfield Postmaster and Councilman William T. Trant.

Mary was an active member of various civic and social organizations in Westfield. A woman of great faith and a devout Catholic, she was especially involved with Blessed Sacrament Church where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality, a CCD instructor and where she volunteered her time and talents for countless causes and events. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, Mary sang in the choirs of Blessed Sacrament as well as St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winter Haven. She also entertained residents of senior living communities for decades.
Mary spent her life supporting various community organizations and activities as Cub Scout and Brownie Leader, Little League parent, election worker, school lunch monitor and in many other roles.
In her retirement in Winter Haven she was an avid golfer, bowler, church volunteer and member of the Red Hatters social group at Swiss Golf and Tennis.
In 2019, Mary moved to Daytona Beach. A sweet, loving, selfless person with a wonderful sense of humor, Mary embraced the Latitude Margaritaville community in which she lived with her daughter, caretaker, travelling companion and partner-in-crime, Sally. She adopted her new friends and neighbors as extended family and thoroughly enjoyed her final years in her beautiful new home.
Mary grew up through the Depression and World War II and exemplified the finest qualities of the Greatest Generation. She was a proud Irish American with a profound appreciation for her nation, its servicemen and women, first responders and those who give of themselves for the betterment of their communities.
Mary Trant was kind, considerate and loving to her family, her friends, and all she touched in her long and wonderful life.

Mrs. Trant was a delightfully funny lady. It was such a pleasure to get to know her and some of her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.

I have lost a dear friend and my heart breaks for the beautiful family she has left behind. We had a special bond and I will miss our annual visits in Westfield on 9/11 for our yearly hugs.

Mary was such a beautiful soul. I remember her smile at the annual golf tournament in honor of her fallen son. She was so kind and warm and we are blessed to have had her in our lives however long or short. May the heavens open for her and may she be smiling down upon her family and friends forever more.
God Bless! You are all in our prayers. May all the fond memories you had with her flood you in time of grief and comfort you in times of loss.
